PASTEL ART INSPIRATION

Hello lovelies! It feels good to be back writing and creating again on a new platform which I am really excited about and I hope you are too. I can’t wait for you to see all the new things I have coming starting with this inspired nail art…

I wasn’t on a search for inspiration when I found this account that has some of the brightest and cutest DIY décor items owned by Kara Whitten of www.akailochiclife.com . She designs and sells all kinds of items for DIYS, home décor, parties, holidays from wrapping paper, throw pillows, cocktail shakers and flower cases. I fell in love immediately and as I was scrolling down I found this Pastel Memphis Easter Eggs she had designed and they were 5 in number! She matched it with some plates from another awesome account, the arrangement had me in colour and design heaven! What do you think was going through my mind…? Recreating them on nails of course and here!

I hope Kara and I have inspired your creativity.
Which of the fingers is your favourite design? I like the pinky and thumb art it reminds me of cake or ice cream sprinkles 😀 .Thank you for reading, see you in my next post.

METALLIC SHATTERED GLASS

Hello everyone, welcome again! Hope your week is going great so far.

I would be taking you through some of the nails i do for my clients and what I eventually come up with.

I always tell people that I do not have a favourite colour just because I believe all colours are beautiful and I wear them according to my mood lol.

This polish is called Copper Mine and its from the Molten Metals collection from Barry W. It has a chrome effect with a mirror-shine foil finish. I particularly love this metallic polish because it looks very “grainy” like if you tap it particles of crushed metal would actually fall off! lol that what it looks like when you actually look closely at the bottle or at least that’s what i have in mind head (don’t judge my imaginations lol). Anyway, the illusion of the metallic chrome effect was well captured in this one, I will recommend that every nail polish lover try this.

I always do two coats of any polish i am working with whether pigmented or not because it helps the polish last longer and gives the nail full coverage and then one good layer of topcoat.

I decided to attach an old picture of my client’s nails when she came for her first appointment, because of her profession she didn’t want extensions but also wanted nice nails so i suggested a simple gel manicure as it lasts longer than regular polish, i must say doing a gel manicure on extremely short nails can be a STRUGGLE! lol i had to put that in capital letter because trying to prevent gel from running into the cuticle and the side walls is almost impossible… Anyway we did gel manicure twice after this picture and soon enough her nails had started growing very strong and nice. I also did henna on her fingers.

I recommended that she got an acrylic overlay to protect the length of the nails and here she has just come in for a refill after about 5weeks. I will be doing a blog post on the different nail systems for nails and their dos’ and don’ts soon.

Here i just finished with the cuticle work and refilling ready for polish, so glad we were able to agree on this polish, I’m sure you can tell I love this metallic polish right?

We decided to do a nice nail art on the ring finger to give it some extra jazz and this particular design I really like because it reminds me of a few things, like i said before every nail art tells a story, has a reference or an interpretation. This has two references for me, I’m sure from the title you already have an idea, yes shattered glass, when a glass breaks you can’t tell what shape it would form or how many pieces you are going to have so this nail art depicts that for me. The other interesting one is the tinted glass that is normally used on the walls of Anglican or Catholic churches’ altar that reflects different colours when under direct sunlight always so beautiful and colourful.  Quite exciting isn’t it?

Here is the final look, i hope you like it.

Your nail shape says a few things about you, read on to find out!

Natural nails or extensions we all have a nail shape that works for us. I have worked with several clients and I have some that are willing to try a new shape with every set and I have some that come rain or sun they are sticking to the same nail shape.

You will agree with me that when you meet someone you immediately try to form an opinion by how they look… Another way to know a bit about a person is through their nail shape shocking right?! Your nail shape says a lot about you which are often times accurate. Here is a compilation of the different nail shapes and what they say about you, lets get right into it!

Square nails

You prefer comfort and chill to anything dramatic. You are a bit stubborn and you don’t like change very much and would rather opt for a movie and chill in bed to trying a new spot in town. You don’t mind doing things one way for a long period of time.

Squoval

You are a bit more laid back and easy going, easy to please. Easy to talk to and flow well with people. You have a  great sense of humour. Flexible thinking, quite indifferent about change.

Round

Classic, practical and easy. You like simplicity and seeks peace and harmony. You are very consistent. This shape also seems to be the go to shape.

Oval

Poised and sophisticated, you are orderly and your make up and outfit weirdly stays perfect all day long. Non-aggressive and you avoid confrontation. Just like your personality you are drawn to anything elegant and classy. This nail shape is super low maintenance.

Almond

You are quite adventurous but practical, you are the girl to go out with a change of shoes or outfit just in case… loves to try new and creative things but always cautious. Classy yet demure. Your taste and style is modern and quality.

Ballerina

You are confident and feminine, your style is edgy and chic but still practical. This shape can be worn by almost every woman but is quite difficult to maintain. You find some nails turning into almond some weeks into your manicure for some weird reasons.

Stiletto

Innovative, creative, free spirited and adventurous. You like the spotlight; you love to turn heads with your style. You are not afraid to be yourself. With stiletto nails typing and texting becomes almost impossible but the mere sight of your nails is satisfaction enough to keep going. They say women who wear stiletto nails do little or nothing with their hands do you agree?

Which nail shape(s) best describe you and what shape are you wearing now? For me my nail shape depends on my mood, sometimes i’m feeling squoval, sometimes stilettos but you would typically find me wearing almond most of the time.
